Geoff Mitchell, the head pro at the Chatham Club in New Jersey, will be receiving the United States Olympic Committee National Coach of the Year Award on Tuesday, October 11. He will be honored on the ASB GlassCourt at the 2016 Delaware Investments U.S. Open.

Mitchell has been a stalwart teaching pro for more than a quarter century. A top player himself, often ranked as high at #1 in his age group in the country, Mitchell has developed hundreds of juniors into intercollegiate team and Team USA members. He has led US Squash-sponsored groups to the British Junior Open, is the head regional coach for the New Jersey/New York junior squads and last summer helped launch the US Squash Academy, the elite performance program. Mitchell has also been the board chair for StreetSquash Newark since that after-school youth enrichment program was founded in 2012.

Tuesday evening is also Top Fifty Night at the U.S. Open. The third-annual event features the fifty people in Squash Magazine’s 2016 Top Fifty list: the most intriguing and important people in American squash.
